Heat forces Republic to alter trash schedule again

Joplin residents should place their trash and recycling at the curb the night before their scheduled collection this week as crews adjust their hours because of extreme heat.

Republic Services will begin its routes at 5 a.m. each day from Tuesday through Saturday as triple-digit temperatures return to the area.

The heat may stay in place through mid-September so changes to the schedule could be possible along the way.

The earlier start affects all curbside trash and recycling customers within Joplin city limits.

Regular collection days remain unchanged.
