A reported theft at a Galena, Kansas, gas station turned into a police pursuit late Monday.

Galena police said the suspect fled in a black SUV and refused to stop for officers. Cherokee County deputies joined the pursuit as the driver allegedly threw stolen items from the vehicle and nearly struck a deputy.

The chase ended in the Downstream Casino parking lot, where officers blocked the vehicle and arrested David Chad Palmer.

Police submitted several charges for review, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing police, reckless driving, theft, and interference with law enforcement.
