Peoria Ridge Golf Course in Northeast Oklahoma has a new owner and a new name.
The Wyandotte Nation announced Thursday it has completed its purchase of the course from the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma.
The course will now be known as Fire Ridge Golf Course.
Wyandotte Nation Chief Billy Friend said the name reflects the tribe’s history as the “Keepers of the Council Fire.”
The Peoria Tribe said changing priorities made the sale necessary and expressed confidence that the Wyandotte Nation will continue operating the property as a regional recreational destination.
