A major winter storm will bring several inches of snow to the four-states region but dangerously cold temperatures will stick around through the early week.

People exposed to extreme cold are susceptible to frostbite and can succumb to hypothermia in a matter of minutes. Areas most prone to frostbite are uncovered skin and the extremities, such as hands and feet. Hypothermia occurs when the body loses heat faster than it can produce it.

Several places around the KZRG listening area will be opening their doors as warming centers for those who need it.

The Joplin Homeless Coalition has an updated list of those places here

Stay warm and wear extra layers when you must be out and about!
