Joplin man killed in vehicle accident while fleeing law enforcement

One man is dead after an accident at 8:51 Tuesday night on Rosebay Drive, about 7 miles northeast of Seneca in Newton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says an eastbound Chevy Silverado driven by a 38-year-old man from Joplin  was fleeing from patrol vehicles when it traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a river embankment. 

He was pronounced dead at a Joplin Hospital. 

An occupant of the vehicle, a 36-year-old man from Joplin was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The names of people injured or killed in vehicle accidents are not released by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
