State Fire Marshal Urges Fireworks Safety Ahead of July 4th Celebrations

With fireworks sales set to begin across Missouri today, June 20, State Fire Marshal Tim Bean is urging residents to prioritize safety during Independence Day festivities,
Seasonal fireworks retailers are permitted to sell through July 10, and as of June 16, the Division of Fire Safety had issued 1,127 permits statewide.
According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Independence Day is the busiest day of the year for fires nationwide.
Missourians are encouraged to attend public displays, however, if using consumer fireworks, follow instructions, avoid alcohol, and never let children handle them.
In 2024, 328 Missourians sought hospital care due to fireworks-related injuries.
