State Treasurer highlights commitment to financial education

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – In celebration of Financial Literacy Month, Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek is reaffirming his commitment to empowering Missourians with the tools and knowledge needed to achieve long-term financial success.

“Financial literacy is more than just knowing how to balance a checkbook—it’s about creating a foundation for stability, opportunity, and growth,” said Treasurer Malek. “From managing daily expenses to planning for retirement, smart financial decision-making impacts every stage of life. As your State Treasurer, I remain dedicated to helping Missourians confidently navigate their financial futures.”

Throughout the month of April, Treasurer Malek is encouraging individuals and families to take advantage of the many educational resources offered by his office. These include the Financial Literacy Portal, an online hub featuring budgeting guides, personal finance lessons, and helpful tools for all life stages.

This year, the Treasurer is proudly backing legislation to establish the Missouri Financial Literacy Commission—a collaborative effort that will unite educators, financial professionals, and community leaders to coordinate and expand access to financial education across Missouri. “This Commission represents a bold step toward building a more financially sound Missouri,” said Treasurer Malek.

We invite all Missourians, whether just entering the workforce, raising a family, or preparing for retirement, to explore the financial education opportunities provided through the Treasurer’s Office. To explore financial education resources, visit the Financial Literacy Portal at treasurer.mo.gov.
