Burlison discusses leaks to the press & “One Big Beautiful Bill” tax and spending cuts

Three Defense Department employees were put on administrative leave while investigations into leaks to the press are underway.
Missouri 7th District Congressman Eric Burlison told Newstalk KZRG:
“I think what’s happening is that the Department of Defense, after some things have been leaked to the press, they’re trying to smoke out who it is. And so we’ll let them do their investigation. But they, I think this administration is trying to take it much more seriously than they did. You know,Trump, 45, than his first time in, because when he first came in the entire bureaucracy, the swamp was out to get him. They were leaking everything.”
Trump’s One “Big Beautiful Bill” took a step forward several days ago to becoming law,
Burlison told Newstalk KZRG what he held out for:
“When we left last Thursday and took the vote, we, the conservative fiscal hawks, really kind of held out and got commitments from the speaker, from the president, from the Senate leadership to have at least a $1.5 trillion spending cut in order to pay for these tax cuts.”
Burlison went on to say: “We don’t want the deficit to get any worse than it currently is. We’re currently spending $2 trillion a year more than what we bring in. And so we’re growing the debt by 2 trillion a year. That to me is stomach turning. And the fact that we might pass something that would add and say, oh, we’re going to add 2.5 trillion to the debt each year, that would be unacceptable to me. And so I’m not.”
