Joplin’s recycling efforts focus of display at Third Thursday event meeting

The City of Joplin is asking residents to participate in discussions and surveys about their recycling experiences to help shape the future of local recycling efforts.
City staff will host a booth at the April 17 Third Thursday event in downtown Joplin for citizens to share their experiences, challenges, and ideas about recycling through a brief survey. Citizens can visit the booth located in front of Joplin City Hall in the 600 block of Main Street to provide their input.
The goal of this project is to better understand the barriers residents face and gather feedback, which will inform more effective messaging and programs. The end result is ultimately to boost participation and sustainability across the city by creating an effective education and outreach plan which enhances recycling education and awareness in the Joplin and surrounding community.
In addition to this event, the City invites residents to participate in a Recycling Education and Outreach Planning Open House from 4 to 6 p.m. onMay 6 at the Joplin Public Library, 1901 E. 20th Street.
The Open House offers another platform for residents to voice their opinions on current recycling challenges and opportunities and suggest new directions for community messaging and outreach efforts.
Based on the community feedback, the City will develop a recycling education and outreach plan to bolster recycling efforts in our area.
