Pittsburg Police to host site location for DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

PITTSBURG, Ks. – On Saturday, April 26th, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Pittsburg Police Department will again be a hosting site location for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The DEA, along with its other law enforcement partners, will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription medication.
At the last National Prescription Take Back Day the DEA collected a record–high amount of unneeded, old, unwanted, or expired medications, with the public turning in over 500 tons of unwanted drugs. The Pittsburg Police Department has received hundreds of pounds of unwanted medication over the last several years and is proud to provide the community with the ability to responsibly dispose of medication.
This year the Pittsburg Police Department has partnered with Crawford County Mental Health Center who will have a table with promotional information and materials available to those who stop by the Drug Take Back event at the Police Department.
Anyone wishing to dispose of unwanted prescription medication is encouraged to bring them to the Pittsburg Police Department, located at 201 N. Pine St., Pittsburg, Kansas, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This service is free of charge and individuals can remain anonymous. For more information about this service, or other hosting site locations, please visit the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s website at DEATakeBack.com.
*Please keep sharps, needles, injectors and aerosol containers (inhalers) separate from other prescription medications. Due to their nature, these items will need to be disposed of separately. *
