Hawley and other Missouri congressional members request audit of the USPS’ St. Louis mail network

Several members of Missouri’s congressional delegation are requesting an audit of the U.S. Postal Service’s mail delivery performance in eastern Missouri, including St. Louis.

U.S. Senator Josh Hawley says in a letter to the USPS inspector general that St. Louis-area residents are facing “significant” disruptions in mail delivery:

“Listen, the mail delivery has been, frankly, just totally unacceptable. The post office has not met its mail delivery targets for something like six years in a row now, and this is one of the reasons that the Postmaster General has resigned, finally! And in Missouri in particular, it’s just outrageous. Rural areas, urban areas, people cannot get their mail.”

The audit request was co-signed by fellow Republican Senator Eric Schmitt, and by Republican U.S. House members Ann Wagner, Bob Onder, Jason Smith, Sam Graves, and Eric Burlison.
