Birthday celebration planning for 150th B-Day for Pittsburg KS

Pittsburg, Kansas getting ready to celebrate their 150th birthday next year.
Pittsburg mayor Dawn McNay told Newstalk KZRG:
“Well, we’ve actually been working on this a year. We’ve had an executive committee that’s been organizing other committees. And so we are in the planning process for the events next year. Our goal is to involve business, citizens, the arts, our education systems.”
McNay went on to say: “And the other bonus next year is the United States turns 250. So around maybe the 4th of July we plan some big event. We don’t know what that looks like yet. We also have several landmarks in our community that have birthdays. Lakeside elementary, which was Lakeside Junior High when it was built. So we have lots of opportunities to spend the whole year involving our community and celebrating all of those events.”
The celebration dates have not been set at this time.
