“Cars” and Route 66 author to speak at MSSU this Friday

An author is coming to Joplin.

Patrick Tuttle of  the Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau told KZRG:

“So 7:00 Friday night, the Missouri Southern Corley Auditorium. Author, voice of the sheriff in the “Cars” franchise. Western author, Route 66 author Michael Wallis will be in town. He’s going to do a lecture on the next 100 years. About, about a 45 minute lecture about how he sees what the future looks like there. And Q and A, probably some “Cars” stories in there.”

Tuttle went on to say:  “Michael is the person who hand carried John Laster across Route 66 to help inspire the “Cars” franchise.  We call him the Godfather of Route 66 because in 1990 he wrote a book that really brought us a new generation on Route 66.  The road had fallen off, it had stopped getting recognition from the. But Michael’s book really put people back on the road again. There’s 12 to 15,000 Europeans we see cross the road every year.”
