Billy Long, awaiting confirmation for IRS position, accepts job at Office of Personnel Management

Former 7th District Congressman Billy Long reportedly has a new job while awaiting his confirmation as the top official at the Internal Revenue Service.

According to Reuters, Long is one of two Trump loyalists who have accepted positions at the Office of Personnel Management.

Long is currently President Trump’s nominee to run the Internal Revenue Service.

The Reuters story says the other loyalist is Douglas Hoelscher, a former aide to Trump who has accepted the same type of position at the OPM.

Long served in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2023 but failed in an attempt to win the Republican Party’s nomination to run for the United States Senate.
