West 32nd Street widening project recognized by state engineering organization
The American Council of Engineering Companies in Missouri (ACEC/MO) recognized the City of Joplin Engineering Division and Olsson, project consultant, for the West 32nd Street widening project completed in 2023, giving them an Excellence in Engineering Award.
During their annual convention, ACEC/MO announced that this project met the standards for an Honor Award recognizing quality engineering achievements.
The organization judges projects based on excellence in design, meeting the needs of the project, and the benefit to the public welfare.
This project widened nearly two miles of West 32nd Street from Schifferdecker Avenue west to Central City Road and added a center lane and a sidewalk-shared use path.
Work also eliminated the previous existing peaks and valleys along this roadway.
