Missouri’s license bureau offices could soon be charging more for certain services

Missouri’s license bureau offices could soon be charging you more for certain services.
The state House has given preliminary approval to a proposed three-dollar increase for learner’s permits, driver’s licenses, lien notices, vehicle registrations, renewals, and title transfers.
Representative Bob Bromley, a Republican from southwest Missouri’s Carl Junction, says he is undecided on the bill…
“It seems like this is just a deja vu from about three years ago,” says Bromley. “The license fee used to be, I think, 2.50 per transaction. And because businesses were going out of business, we raised that to $6 per transaction, I believe. And this would take that to $9.”
The bill sponsor, O’Fallon Republican Representative Dave Hinman, says in the last 26 years, Missouri increased the fee once – in 2019.
One more House vote of support would send the legislation to the state Senate for more hoops to jump through.
