Joplin Mayor Cortez will be at the next “Council in the Park” April 14th

On Monday’s KZRG Morning Newswatch, Mayor Keenan Cortez highlighted key initiatives and concerns during a discussion about community engagement and infrastructure in Joplin. 

Cortez emphasized the importance of the ‘Council in the Park’ events aimed at enhancing accessibility and transparency.  

Mayor Cortez plans on being at the next event on Monday, April 14th from 5:45 PM until 7:00 PM at the shelter by the soccer fields at the Joplin Athletic Complex.  

It is located northwest of Schifferdecker Park. 

The mayor reviewed a documentary on the 2011 Joplin tornado, expressing emotional resonance while noting that it fell short in showcasing the community’s recovery efforts. 

He conveyed pride in the city’s proactive infrastructure planning, with ongoing upgrades to wastewater facilities and future water sourcing strategies, particularly from Stockton Lake, to support growth.
