Halftime is over: What to expect the start of the second half of Missouri Legislature’s session

Missouri lawmakers returned Monday from spring break. 

The Missouri House Budget Committee is on deck to work on state budget bills. 

The roughly 53-billion dollar budget plan includes the state’s obligations to fund Medicaid services; public education; public safety; the state’s prison system, among other things.

The House might debate bills this week that could regulate video lottery machines and increase the fee by three-dollars for things like vehicle registrations, renewals, and title transfers.

In the state Senate, there could be debate about a bill that aims to ban Missouri law enforcement from enforcing federal gun laws. 

Another proposal is a tax credit increase to help low-income senior citizens stay in their home.
