Multiple felonies for man who led deputies on high speed pursuit

Several felony charges have been filed against a man from Webb City, Missouri, after a high speed pursuit through southeast Kansas Thursday night.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office says 48-year-old Cory Dewayne Reynolds refused to stop for Pittsburg Police near the area of Joplin and Quincy Street.

Reynolds was suspected of having just having committed an aggravated burglary and domestic battery.

Officers with the PPD pursued Reynolds east out of the city, where a Crawford County Deputy joined in the pursuit.

Reynolds crossed into Cherokee County, near Opolis, before turning east into Missouri, where the deputy took over as the primary pursuing vehicle.

Reynolds reportedly hit speeds over 100 mph and the deputy also reported that Reynolds would turn his headlights off and on while fleeing.

The pursuit entered back into Kansas in southern Cherokee County, where other deputies from the Crawford County, as well as deputies with the Cherokee County and the Quapaw Nation Marshal’s Service joined in.

Near the intersection of Old US-166 and K-26, south of Galena, Sheriff Billy Tomasi performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention maneuver on Reynolds’ vehicle as it slowed to turn north. Reynolds still refused to stop and struck multiple law enforcement vehicles.

He fled southbound before his vehicle was disabled and brought to a stop. Reynolds was then taken into custody

Suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was located both on Reynolds and inside of the vehicle.

Reynolds was transported back to the Crawford County Jail in Girard. Charges are anticipated from multiple law enforcement agencies in multiple jurisdictions.
