Neosho state representative Ben Baker on 1st half of state legislative session

On the KZRG Morning Newswatch, Neosho state representative Ben Baker gave key updates from the legislative session, highlighting two bills signed by Governor Kehoe, including a significant crime bill that shifts control of the St. Louis Police Department to a governor-appointed commission. 

A total of 54 bills have passed the House, with notable measures addressing Prop A for mandatory paid sick leave and various tax reforms. 

Ben Baker’s DEI bill has progressed to the Senate, alongside prioritized education reform initiatives. 

Looking ahead, Baker’s Committee on Government Efficiency is set to hold hearings aimed at enhancing state government transparency and efficiency. 

The discussion also included a personal reflection from Baker on the Joplin tornado of 2011, after watching the Netflix documentary called “The Twister: caught in the storm”, emphasizing community resilience and the importance of heeding weather warnings.
