Pineville fugitive back in custody in McDonald County

A wanted fugitive was captured in McDonald County Wednesday.

The Sheriff’s Office says former Pineville resident 63-year-old John Edwards McClary ran away from a halfway house in Kansas City. He is well-known to law enforcement in the area.

After hours of investigation, deputies found McClary driving in Anderson and took him into custody.

He had been serving a sentence for DWI and as well as a warrant for resisting arrest in Ottawa County.

McClary was previously convicted of Second Degree Murder of Richard Scott Yocham in Cleveland County, Oklahoma, in 1989 after beating Yocham to death as he slept.

McClary also has convictions for Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, and Motor Vehicle Theft out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
