Two arrested after police pursuit in Cherokee County

Two people were arrested after a police pursuit in Cherokee County, Kansas, Monday night.

It all began when a Galena Police Officer observed a car traveling south on Main Street speeding.

When the officer initiated a traffic stop, the driver fled. A pursuit ensued, traveling through various parts of Cherokee County.

With assistance from the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were able to bring the pursuit to an end after tire deflation devices were deployed.

The driver, Michael Burns, was arrested and charged with:

• Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement
• Reckless Driving
• Possession of Stimulants
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Ignition Interlock Violation

The passenger, Destiny Boyd, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.

Both individuals were transported to the Cherokee County jail.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
