Seneca man arrested for alleged armed robbery in Stark City

A man from Seneca is facing charges related to an armed robbery in Stark City.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office says dispatch got the call that a male subject had come to his father’s property, displayed a gun, and demanded money from him. The caller stated that the suspect was a contractor that had been doing some work for the caller’s father.

About 20 minutes later, officers with the Seneca Police Department saw the possible suspect vehicle in Seneca. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle fled and a pursuit was initiated.

After a short pursuit, the suspect vehicle crashed on the southeast side of town. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 38-year-old David Inkanish. He was taken into custody and was transported to a local hospital.

Inkanish has since been transported to the Newton County Jail. Inkanish was arrested for 1st Degree Robbery, DWI, Felony Fleeing, and 1st Degree Property Damage.

This is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be filed at a later time.

Newton County Sheriff Matt Sheriff released the following statement: “I would like to commend Central Dispatch Center for their timely dissemination of information to surrounding agencies. I would also like to thank Seneca PD for locating the vehicle and assisting with taking Inkanish into custody. We are fortunate to have great working relationships with the public safety agencies in our County.”
