Full response to wildfire northeast of Seligman

ROLLA, Mo. (March 14, 2025) — A wildfire burning in the Cassville Unit of Mark Twain National Forest is currently 170 acres in size.
Although not alarmingly large by wildfire standards, the prediction of incoming high winds has prompted heightened response efforts by USDA Forest Service and its partners today.
The wildfire is named the Seligman Hollow Fire and is located about four miles northeast of the town of Seligman. The fire was detected late last night, with initial response happening around 11 p.m.
Missouri Department of Conservation fire crews and local volunteer fire departments are working closely with the Forest Service to contain the Seligman Hollow Fire. Response efforts are being managed under unified command established with local, state, and federal resources. Hand crews, fire engines, dozers, and helicopters are all being utilized to fight the fire.
Wind gusts of 50 mph are predicted for the area later this afternoon—which raises concerns that embers from the interior of the fire’s footprint could potentially blow outside established containment lines. All efforts are being made to contain the Seligman Fire within its current control lines.
Firefighters will continue suppression activities and have additional resources available if containment lines are breached.
