Neosho state rep Ben Baker on MO DEI and keeping Chief’s – Royals in Missouri

On Thursday’s KZRG Morning News Watch Neosho state representative Ben Baker discussed significant legislative changes in Missouri, including Governor Mike Kehoe’s executive order to cease Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, which sparked controversy for being considered divisive and discriminatory.

Representative Ben Baker’s House Bill 742 seeks to codify this prohibition into law, preventing future administrations from reinstating such programs.

The bill, scheduled for discussion in the Senate next week, emphasizes stricter definitions around DEI.

Baker highlighted ongoing legislative efforts to retain professional sports teams in Missouri, advocating for tax credit adjustments while opposing taxpayer subsidies.

The current legislative session is characterized by its busy pace, with Baker advancing multiple bills and a noted requirement for state agencies to review their compliance with the executive order within 90 days.
