2026 trial scheduled that may overturn Missouri’s ban on abortion

A trial date has been set for January 12, 2026, that could permanently overturn Missouri’s abortion ban, as required by Amendment 3.
Abortions in Missouri resumed a week ago after a Jackson County judge temporarily blocked a state rule requiring abortion clinics to be licensed with the Department of Health and Senior Services.
This follows a lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood because the abortion ban did not automatically repeal the licensing requirement and other regulations in place designed to discourage women from getting an abortion.
About 51-percent of Missouri voters backed Amendment Three to restore abortion rights.
The trial is expected to last ten days.
