Jasper County Sheriff warns of another scam

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in Carthage is warning you of another scam.

They have received reports of individuals calling and claiming to be a Jasper County Deputy telling the caller they missed court, have a warrant, etc.

Even if they sound really convincing; get their alleged information, hang up the phone, then you can look up the telephone number for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office yourself and call that number (417-358-8177) for verification of who they claim to be.

Yes, they may use a name of an actual deputy and they may even call from a “spoofed” number to make it appear legitimate.

JSCO says they will “NEVER CALL YOU AND TELL YOU THAT WE WILL COME ARREST YOU IF YOU DO NOT SEND MONEY!”

Likewise, they would never have you pay fines, bonds or anything else using bitcoin, gift card or pre-paid debit cards. We would just come and get you.

This is simply another scam and attempt to get your personal information.
