Bright Futures Joplin to “Raise the Bar” at Basketball Super Night

JOPLIN, Mo. – Bright Futures Night will take center stage during Super Night at Kaminsky Gym on February 18 at 4:30 p.m., featuring a full slate of Freshman, JV, and Varsity basketball games for both boys’ and girls’ teams.
This special event will not only showcase student-athletes but also highlight the importance of community support in addressing food insecurity.
As part of the evening’s initiative, attendees are encouraged to participate in the “Raise the Bar” Granola Bar Drive to support Snack Packs, a program dedicated to providing weekend food for students facing food insecurity. Granola bar donations will be collected at the event to help ensure that Joplin students have access to food outside of school hours.
Currently, 64% of Joplin Schools students live in economic deprivation, with some elementary schools reporting rates of over 80%.
“Bright Futures Night is an opportunity to raise awareness and collect much-needed donations for the Snack Packs program,” said Bright Futures Joplin Executive Director Amanda Stone. “The need is high and continues to grow. The ‘Raise the Bar’ campaign helps us fill Snack Packs, directly contributing to student success. We want food-insecure students to return to school after the weekend ready to learn, focus, and grow—just like their peers.”
Community members can donate boxes of granola bars, any brand or variety, at the basketball games on February 18 or drop them off at the Joplin Schools Memorial Education Center, located at 825 S. Pearl.
