State leaders recognize International Holocaust Remembrance Day

TOPEKA – (Jan. 27, 2025) – In recognition of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Attorney General Kris Kobach and Secretary of State Scott Schwab on Monday lit Memorial Hall in Topeka yellow to remind all Kansans that the horror of the holocaust can never be forgotten.

January 27 is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. The remembrance honors those who perished in the Holocaust including more than six million Jews who were victims of Nazi genocide.

“Sadly, we are still confronting the evils of anti-Semitism and we must always remember the atrocities, so they are never repeated.  I honor the lives of those lost,” said Secretary of State Scott Schwab.

“With the recent rise in anti-Semitism, it’s more important than ever to remember the evil of the Holocaust so that it never happens again,” said Attorney General Kris Kobach.

Memorial Hall houses the offices of the Secretary of State and Ag which is party of the Capitol complex in downtown Topeka. The building was lit with blue and white lights following the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel.
