Ongoing construction projects in the Joplin-area

Several big construction projects continue across the four-state area as other major roadwork projects are planned for this year.

Work continues on improving Zora Avenue with construction still ongoing at the intersection of Duquesne. That section of the project is expected to be done this spring.

Improvements are also ongoing at 4th and Murphy Boulevard by enhancing pedestrian safety with a new traffic signal and new sidewalks at that intersection. The $1.7 million project should also be done this spring.

Sometime this summer, work will begin on Joplin’s 7th Street between Schifferdecker Avenue and Range Line Road. The estimated cost of the project is $60.2 million. Work is tentatively scheduled to begin in July with completion in late 2027.

Starting Wednesday, South Connecticut Avenue from East Campbell Parkway to East 8th Street will be closed as stormwater work progresses in this area. This closure allows for installing a box culvert in the railroad right of way near 9th Street. It’s expected to reopen February 17. The St. Louis Avenue closure is now open, allowing full access along this main corridor.
