No jail time for former Nixa teacher accused of inappropriate relations with a student

There will be no jail time for former Nixa High School teacher Lena Stewart.

That’s after she pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor sexual abuse.

She was charged in connection to incidents involving a student in 2022. The student reportedly said he felt pressured to take part in the incidents to maintain his classroom grade.

Stewart was fired from Nixa High School in 2023.

She was sentenced to two years of supervised probation and she will have to register as a sex offender.
