Derek Schmidt selected to serve on House Small Business Committee

WASHINGTON, DC: Today, Congressman Derek Schmidt (KS-02) released the following statement after being selected to serve on the House Small Business Committee:

“Four years of runaway inflation, government overregulation, and anti-growth policies have been nothing short of disastrous for American small businesses. Kansans – like all Americans – want their federal government to institute commonsense policies that cut bureaucratic red tape and allow American businesses to thrive.”

“I’m excited to get to work with my colleagues to deliver American entrepreneurs a government and an economy that work for them, not against them.”

Chaired by Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25), the House Small Business Committee oversees the Small Business Administration and is charged with advancing legislation to support American small business owners. As of 2023, Kansas was home to 256,287 small businesses, accounting for 99.1% of businesses in the state. These businesses employ roughly 600,000 Kansans, representing nearly half the state’s working population.

Schmidt previously announced that he will also serve on the House Armed Services and House Judiciary Committees for the 119th Congress.
