Sunshine Lamp Trolley session to start one hour earlier – at 4:30 p.m. today – due to weather

Due to the potential for winter weather in our area, tonight’s Public Meeting to discuss the relaunch of the Sunshine Lamp Trolley has been extended to start at 4:30 p.m. to allow an earlier opportunity for people to view the information.

With an open house format, there is no formal presentation, so citizens can come and go at their convenience between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. today.

“If people want to get home before dark or beat the snow accumulation that’s predicted, this gives them the opportunity to stop by to get the information and provide their comments,’ said Dan Johnson, Public Works Director. “With the current forecast, we understand people may not want to be out too late tonight.

The City of Joplin will relaunch its transit services utilizing the Sunshine Lamp Trolley program in early February 2025.

The meeting will be held on the fifth floor of City Hall, 602 South Main Street. Information will be posted in an Open House format for citizens to view and provide feedback.

If unable to attend a public meeting, please contact Gina Thompson, Public Transportation Coordinator, at 417-624-0820, ext. 1800, or email Gthompso@joplinmo.org to leave a comment.
