OSBI releases name of man who died in officer-involved shooting in Miami

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has released the name of a man who died in an officer-involved shooting in Miami on Friday.

An OSBI spokesman says that 49-year-old Jason Wilkins died after being shot during the incident.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on C SE Street shortly before 4 p.m. Friday.

Three Miami Police Officers arrived on scene and made contact in the apartment complex with the male subject who was carrying a weapon.

Wilkins was shot after he reportedly rushed at police while carrying metal spike.

Emergency Services were called to the scene, and Wilkins was transported to the Emergency Room of Integris Hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

The officer who fired at Wilkins is reportedly on paid administrative leave.
