Officer involved shooting in Miami, Oklahoma

(MIAMI, OK.) – An officer involved shooting occurred Friday  in Miami, according to Miami’s Interim Police Chief, Todd Hicks.

Two separate 911 calls came into the Emergency Operations Center at 3:55 p.m. Friday,. Dec. 27, 2024, of an armed male subject under the influence attempting to break into an apartment at a complex on C SE Street.

Officers were immediately dispatched.

Three Miami Police Officers arrived on scene and made contact in the apartment complex with the male subject who was carrying a weapon.

According to Hicks, it is believed the subject appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and failed to respond to the officers’ repeated commands, shots were fired, and the subject was injured.

Emergency Services were called to the scene, and the subject was transported to the Emergency Room of Integris Hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

The Ottawa County District Attorney was notified, as well as the OSBI (Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation) for further investigation.
