CBCO holding Miracle of Giving Blood Drive

JOPLIN, Mo. – Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to patients at 45 area healthcare facilities, is asking all eligible blood donors to give ahead of the holidays during the 30th annual Miracle of Giving Blood Drive. The blood drive will be held on two critical days – December 24 and December 31 – at all CBCO donor centers throughout the region. Successful donors will receive a cozy plaid blanket, a “Miracle of Giving” campfire mug, along with a $10.00 Casey’s gas gift card and a box of Verse chocolate.

During the holiday season, blood donations tend to decline. Michelle Teter, Media Relations Representative at CBCO, emphasizes the importance of donating blood before the holidays.

She shared this, “People get distracted, busy and out of their routines during holiday times, which often means they aren’t donating and can have a significant impact on the local blood supply.”

But Teter also pointed out how blood donation can become a part of someone’s holiday tradition.

“Donating blood is a simple act that has a profound impact on the lives of patients in need. The true spirit of the holiday season lies in the kindness we extend to others. By donating blood, you are offering a gift of hope and life that lasts well beyond the holidays.”

The Miracle of Giving holiday blood drive will be held December 24 and 31 only at Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Donor Centers in Joplin, Springfield, Bentonville, and Springdale. Donation hours for the Miracle of Giving drives are:

Joplin – Joplin Donor Center, 101 N. Range Line Rd.                              8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Springfield – Thomson Donor Center, 220 W. Plainview Rd.                     7:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Bentonville – Bentonville Donor Center, 1400 SE Walton Blvd.               7:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Springdale – Springdale Donor Center, 3503 S. Thompson St.                  7:00 AM to 1:00 PM

All CBCO Donor Centers will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

To help avoid wait times, appointments are strongly encouraged. Donors can schedule an appointment at https://www.cbco.org/miracle/ or by calling 417-227-5006.

On behalf of local hospital patients, CBCO thanks blood donors from across the region for giving life to your community.
