Two injured by gunshots in Webb City, four detained
Two people hurt by gunfire in Webb City early Wednesday morning and four people detained for questioning.

On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 05:12 hours Officers with the Webb City Police Department were dispatched to the 1300 block of West Austin in Webb City in reference to gunshots heard in the area.
As officers were en route to the area, Dispatch advised of a medical call at the Neighborhood Market at Stone’s Corner.
The 32-year-old caller advised that he along with a passenger, a 24-year-old white female from Sarcoxie, in his vehicle had been shot while in the 1300 block of West Austin in Webb City.
Officers from the Webb City Police Department went to Stone’s Corner to assist with the investigation. Both the caller and the passenger in the vehicle were transported by ambulance to local hospitals.
The 32-year-old male had non-life-threatening injuries; the 24-year-old female had life threatening injuries and is currently listed in critical condition. The vehicle the caller and passenger were in was towed to the Webb City Police Department where officers applied for a search warrant to search the vehicle.
Additional officers arrived in the 1300 block of West Austin where they held a perimeter on the residence. The Webb City Police Department requested assistance from the Jasper County Special Operations Group (JSOG), a special response team consisting of law enforcement officers from multiple agencies within Jasper County.
JSOG arrived on scene and began calling for the occupants of 1302 West Austin in Webb City to exit the residence. Four occupants exited the residence and were detained:
31-year-old white male from Webb City; 27-year-old white male from Joplin;
30-year-old white female from Joplin; 27-year-old white female from Joplin.
JSOG did not locate any additional occupants inside the residence. The residence was sealed and Officers with the Webb City Police Department applied for a search warrant with the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office. This afternoon Officers with the Webb City Police Department served the search warrants on the residence and on the vehicle.
All the individuals associated with this incident have been detained or interviewed. We believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no current threat to the public. The Webb City Police Department, along with Deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office are continuing the investigation.
