Jail sentence given to Joplin animal abuse suspect

A man from Joplin has been sentenced to 74 days in jail after he plead guilty to eight counts of animal abuse.

It all stems back to September, when the Joplin Humane Society reported that eight puppies were found dead in a plastic tote left outside their building.

30-year-old Seth Vaile and another suspect left the crate between two bushes without a note.

A vet said the puppies died from heat exhaustion.

Vaile admitted to dropping the puppies off along with knowing that the business was not open at the time.

Vaile was credited with time served but will also be fined $500.
