Man and child dead after reported domestic disturbance in Kansas City-area

A man and child are dead after a reported domestic disturbance in the Kansas City-area. 

A 26-year-old man who allegedly shot at Kansas City-area law enforcement officers Sunday night is dead and so is a three-year-old child. 

Clay and Ray County officers were told that a child might be held hostage and additional gunfire had been heard coming from the Lawson home – prompting a tactical assault team to enter. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says that’s when deputies found the man and boy dead inside. 

A female victim was found safe. 

A deputy was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
