Missouri is on track to end the year with fewer traffic deaths
With less than two months remaining in 2024, statewide traffic deaths have declined eight-percent compared to last year.
Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission Chair Dustin Boatwright says the state is teaming up with law enforcement to promote safe driving over the holiday season.
According to Boatwright: “Beginning the week of Thanksgiving and running through the end of the year, a combination of public service announcements and increased traffic patrols will be used to remind all Missourians to never get behind the wheel while impaired, says Boatwright.
He says Missouri has had four months in a row of fewer traffic deaths than the previous year.
In 2023, 991 people died in Missouri traffic crashes.
