Amendment 2 Approved: Missouri Legalizes Sports Betting
Missourians have approved amendment 2 to legalize sports betting.
“It makes a lot of sense as a Missourian for this industry to be taxed and regulated for us to reap the benefits of that.”
That from Cardinals President Bill Dewitt III who led a coalition of the 6 Missouri professional sports teams. The amendment establishes a tax on betting revenue with proceeds aimed at supporting public education.
According to Dewitt: “It’s constitutional, it can’t go anywhere else. It will go to education, so when they say that in those previous ADS that It could be 0 tax revenue, that would only occur if 0 people did sports betting. It’s just absurd to think that money isn’t going to go to education.”
Revenue will first go to the gaming commission and programs for compulsive gambling prevention. Before trickling down to education.
