Leadership Joplin Class to celebrate completion of Class Service Project this Friday
JOPLIN, Mo – The Leadership Joplin Class of 2024 is excited to announce that their class service project, a yard game park located in Cunningham Park, is now complete.
The class invites the community to celebrate with them as they mark the completion of the project with a ribbon cutting at 4:00 pm on Friday, November 8.
The Leadership Joplin program, developed by the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation and sponsored by community businesses, identifies, cultivates, and motivates future community leaders. Each year, the Leadership Joplin class is responsible for planning and implementing a class service project.
This year’s project features the permanent installation of outdoor games such as cornhole, ping pong, horseshoes, and chess. Class members coordinated the donation of materials from area businesses and organized the installation of each of the games at Cunningham Park.
“We were tasked to find a service project that would encourage our citizens to take advantage of all that Joplin has to offer,” says Heather Ogden, Senior Project Manager for American Ramp Company and Leadership Joplin Class of 2024 graduate. “With the incorporation of our new yard park at Cunningham Park, we can bring a new spark back to an area that has been a part of our citizens’ hearts since the 2011 tornado. We can’t wait to unveil the final product now that our vision has come to life!”
Thank you to Leggett & Platt, the program’s title sponsor, and Arvest Bank, the program’s presenting sponsor, for making Leadership Joplin possible.
