Woman from Vernon County wins $50,000 in Powerball
A Powerball player in Vernon County was delighted to find out the Quick Pick ticket she purchased for the Oct. 9 drawing was worth $50,000.
“It was too late to call anyone when I checked my ticket, so I texted my son,” the winner laughed. “He called me the next morning and asked, ‘Is everything alright?’”
She immediately responded with, “I won $50,000 on the Powerball!”
The ticket she purchased at Mr. D’s Smokeshop & Liquors, 14180 E. Highway 54 in Nevada, matched four out of the five white-ball numbers plus the Powerball number. The winning numbers for Oct. 9 were 25, 32, 43, 53 and 66 with the Powerball number of 10.
“My kids and I were so happy,” she added. “People really do win!”
Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m.
In FY24, players in Vernon County won more than $3.3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $318,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $1.6 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
