Man from Reeds killed in accident early Saturday morning on Missouri 96

A man from Reeds died early Saturday morning in an accident on Missouri 96 about a half-mile east of Carthage.

The MO State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred around 2:35 a.m. when a westbound 2023 GMC Sierra driven by 43-year-old Ronnie D. Gillmore of Reeds crossed the centerline and struck a eastbound 2022 Freightliner driven by 58-year-old Kevin W. Fields of Marionville.

After impact, Gilmore was ejected and struck by the Freightliner as both vehicles ran off the right side of the road.

Gillmore was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fields was not injured.
