Nevada, Mo police seize cocaine, fentanyl; One man in custody
On Thursday, October 24, 2024, Nevada, Mo. Police conducted a drug investigation that resulted in a seizure of cocaine and fentanyl.
Officers with the Nevada Police Department were working alongside the Bourbon County Kansas Sheriff’s Office regarding narcotics being trafficked and distributed in both communities by the alleged suspect.
Nevada Police secured search warrants in the investigation for the suspect’s vehicle and two storage units located inside Nevada. On the evening of October 24th Nevada Police intercepted the suspect vehicle and were able to secure it and the suspect.
In a subsequent search utilizing Nevada Police K-9 Edo, officers located over 600 fentanyl pills and approximately two ounces of cocaine.
The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Vernon County Jail for holding by Nevada Police.
The subject has been identified as 41-year-old Avious B. Steadman of Nevada.
On Friday, the following charges were filed against Steadman through the Vernon County Associate Court:
* One (1) Count of Trafficking Drugs 1st Degree – Class A Felony
* One (1) Count of Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Class C Felony
Steadman is being held in the Vernon County Jail with no bond.
