Mercy Hospital Carthage welcomes new Administrator

CARTHAGE, Mo. (Oct. 25, 2024) – Mercy Hospital Carthage is happy to announce the arrival of Belinda Farmer, who has joined Mercy as administrator of the critical access hospital. Farmer has been working in hospitals in various roles since she was a teenager, which she says ignited a “love affair” with health care.

Farmer said Mercy’s foundation in faith is one of the things that drew her to seek this new position.

“The Sisters of Mercy have similar mission, vision, and values as I do in both a professional and personal capacity,” she said. “I have always followed Christ’s lead in serving those around me and have spent 30 plus years of my life ministering to staff, peers and patients within health care.”

Most recently before joining Mercy, Farmer served as the operations director for McClinton Cancer Center at Baylor Stott & White in Waco, Texas, a role she held since January 2, 2022.

“Belinda is a great fit to lead our Mercy Carthage community,” said Jeremy Drinkwitz, president of Mercy Joplin communities. “We feel fortunate to have her on our operations team and hope Carthage joins us in extending her a warm welcome.”

Farmer is currently in the process of completing a doctoral program, and she and her husband have eight children and grandchildren, so free time is hard to come by. However, when she is able, Farmer enjoys reading fiction and both singing and listening to worship music.

Farmer is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a registered radiation therapist.
