Joplin’s Connect2Culture to host first open mic night

Joplin, Missouri – Connect2Culture (C2C) is hosting its first open mic night event to spotlight local talent and a sky-high, exclusive space in the Cornell Complex.

“This is Connect2Culture’s first open mic night event and we couldn’t be more excited,” says Emily Frankoski, Executive Director of C2C. “It’s the perfect chance to take in some local talent or showcase your own talent, and see an exclusive venue within the Cornell Complex!”

Connect2Culture’s Open Mic Night: Fall is in the Air will be held on Thursday, October 24th, 5:00–7:30pm on the Cornell Complex’s Crossland Construction Rooftop Terrace (212 W 7th St, Joplin, MO 64801).

This fun autumnal evening will feature fall drinks and snacks, a cash bar, downtown views, and local talent. Musicians, singers, and poets are encouraged to sign up at the door for a 10 minute slot to showcase their talent. Two vocal mics, two instrument inputs, Bluetooth capabilities, and an aux cable will be available.

“Poets, musicians, singers—come take the stage and show us the local talent Joplin has to offer!” said Frankoski. “And if you have stage fright, come support local artists, have some sips and snacks, and enjoy downtown Joplin at a bird’s-eye view.”

There is a cover of $5 at the door. Proceeds from the event are going to support Connect2Culture’s mission to ignite a passion for the arts, culture, and entertainment in the Joplin area.

Frankoski told Newstalk KZRG, “we are hoping that it’s very popular and that other people want to come so we can extend this and have multiple open mic nights a year.”

Connect2Culture (C2C) is a not-for-profit arts organization founded in 2009 to enhance community through culture. C2C is a respected community arts agency, a champion of the Harry M.
