Local firefighter dies in off-duty incident
A firefighter who had worked for several different departments in Southwest Missouri died Saturday in an off-duty incident in Carl Junction.
Tucker Berry, 22, was fatally injured in an accident involving a golf cart Saturday evening in the 300 block of Fairway Drive in Carl Junction, reports say.
The departments Berry had served included Redings Mill, Lockwood and Dade County 911.
Departments expressed their feelings about Berry on their Facebook sites on Sunday.
Dade County 911 called the young first responder “Truly one of a kind,” praising his decision to donate his organs to help others live.
Monett Rural Fire District described Berry as a “respected local firefighter and brother” whose perpetual smile and joyful spirit left an indelible mark.”
