Car hits ballot drop box in Pittsburg; Ballots secured by election officials
On Friday, October 18, at approximately 5:50 p.m., there was a vehicle accident in the Pittsburg Judicial Center parking lot involving a Crawford County ballot drop box.
he driver of the vehicle state that the glare of the sun caused the westbound vehicle to accidentally jump the curb and strike the ballot drop box. Pittsburg Police officers passing by pulled in and initiated an accident report. Pittsburg officers also secured the ballots that were in the drop box.
At approximately 6:10 p.m., Crawford County Clerk Lisa Lusker responded to the accident scene and took possession of the sealed ballots.
The ballots were transported directly to the Crawford County Courthouse by election officials. The accident is still under investigation by the Pittsburg Police Department.
Until the ballot drop box can be replaced, ballots can be taken to the ballot drop box at the Girard courthouse or brought in person to the Crawford County Clerk’s Office M-F from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ballots may also be mailed through the US Post office, or brought to any early polling site location.
In addition to the early voting opportunity at the Clerk’s office, voters may go to the Bicknell Center at PSU on Tuesday, octo. 22nd from 8 a.m.to 4 p.m., the Homer Cole Senior Center on Saturday, Oct. 26th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or the Meadowbrook Mall on Sunday, October 27th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
