Are Missouri voters feeling the fatigue already? Most likely, says MU professor
Voter fatigue seemed to settle in early this year when it appeared the 2024 presidential race would again feature a matchup between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
But now that Biden is out and Kamala Harris is in, is there still any lingering fatigue?
Peverill Squire, an MU political science professor, suggests it’s still very much around:
“American campaigns are very long by international standards, and so there’s always going to be some fatigue, and it would not be unusual for people to tire a little bit of all the campaigning and all the ads that they see around this time.”
But Squire tells Newstalk KZRG that people tend to become more engaged as Election Day gets closer.
He adds that personal contact by local candidates for office can have a big impact on voter interest.
